Wakeboarding Is Fun When You Have The Right Wakeboard

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding is an cool sport that anyone can enjoy if they get off one the right foot. Learning to wakeboard is a sport that anyone with access to a lake, as well as a boat, can do and it's fun for your friends too.

Just heed these simple steps and you’ll be having good times wakeboarding before you know it.

1. Wakeboards

The critical part. If you are getting started or you want to get a board that your friends can use to check out wakeboarding, you don’t want to get a high-end wakeboard. Very advanced wakeboards will be too difficult to control and you will fall more than you ride! Wakeboards such as the Liquid Force Trip Wakeboard are a super choice.

Ask for a board that has a continuous rocker and do not get the more advanced 3-stage rocker.

For board size, you want to chose a board the is correct for your weight. Here are the ranges we recommend:

Weight: 90-160 Ibs.

Size: 134 cm

Weight: 160-200 Ibs.

Length: 138 cm

Weight: 200 Ibs.

Length: 142 cm or longer

2. Wakeboard Bindings

For wakeboard bindings there are closed toe and open toe. Beginners will want to get an open toe binding, as will people that prefer a binding that can work for a few different foot sizes.

Chose the Binding that matches your shoe size. For bindings sized as small, medium, large or x-large, you should try them on to ensure you get the right fit.

3. The One-Size-Fits-All Wakeboard

If you want a wakeboard package that you and several family members can use, or that you can leave at your cottage for anyone to use, we suggest getting an average board, such as a 138 and a 9/10 binding. Just remember that if someone has very small feet, they should consider sitting this one out rather than risk being injured. You can also get two sets of bindings .

4. Wakeboard Boats

Your boat has to be able to pull someone behind it on a wakeboard at about 17-25 mph. If you have an aluminum fishing boat with a 15hp motor, that isn't likely going to work!

You also need a boat that has a decent wake and you need a hook on the transom to attach a tow rope to.

5. Wakeboard Rope and Handle vs. Ski Rope

You need a wakeboard rope and handle. These don’t cost that much, so I strongly suggest you get one. The good rope will last you a lifetime, so it's wise to invest in a good one that is tangle-proof and has a comfortable grip.

Have a great time learning to wakeboard and don’t forget to wear your life vest.
